INSTRUCTOR OF BIOLOGY
The Instructor of Biology position is a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track faculty appointment. The faculty member will be assigned to teach 30 credit hours each academic year (not to exceed 36 contact hours), maintain office hours and academically advise students, and contribute to curriculum and program development. Faculty also serve on college committees, participate in college-wide activities, and attend to other responsibilities associated with a faculty role.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated competency and experience in the teaching of Anatomy & Physiology Additional responsibilities will include teaching General Biology, and participating in the department efforts in the areas of program revisions and curriculum development, strategies to improve student learning, and retention efforts.
Qualifications and Characteristics:
- Master's degree in Biology or closely related field.
- The Human Anatomy and Physiology Society minimum criteria for teaching the introductory level A&P course
- Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field preferred.
- Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
- Commitment to the mission and philosophy of a comprehensive community college.
- Ability to work with an academically and culturally diverse student population.
- Competency in other areas of biology or science is beneficial.
- Professional experience in a health care field is beneficial.
Salary: $56,538- 63,366* plus a comprehensive benefit package.
*Note: Starting salary is based on the last negotiated contract, which runs from 2016-2020.
