New York City College of Technology (City Tech), the designated college of technology within the City University of New York, seeks an innovative, forward-looking, dedicated and student-centered leader to serve as its next President, joining an atmosphere of inclusion, respect, and open-mindedness in which all members of its community can flourish.
The Position: The President of City Tech serves as the chief executive and a highly visible leader across the College and throughout New York City. Reporting to the Chancellor of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, the President leads the College’s academic programs, student services, and administrative operations, including budgeting, financial management, human resources, enrollment strategy, facilities oversight, and strategic planning. As a member of CUNY’s senior leadership team, the president collaborates with the Chancellor, the CUNY Board of Trustees, University executives and fellow CUNY presidents to advance systemwide goals while championing City Tech’s mission as CUNY’s college of technology.
At the College, the president inspires faculty, staff and students to pursue excellence in teaching, learning, service and innovation. An empathetic, transparent and decisive leader, the president addresses complex institutional issues using data, evidence and input from City Tech’s diverse community. The president strengthens a culture of collaboration, trust and respect by honoring the College’s history and reinforcing its commitment to access, equity and applied learning.
The president works closely with faculty and academic leadership to create and expand programs using market analysis and data- driven review, ensuring City Tech responds to rapidly evolving technological and professional needs. The president advances enrollment and retention strategies and ensures that academic support, student services and campus communication are aligned to equip students to succeed academically and prepare for meaningful careers.
The president leads the development and stewardship of City Tech’s operating budget and secures funding aligned with the College’s priorities from a broad range of sources. Working closely with the CUNY Central Office and the CUNY Board of Trustees, the president ensures City Tech’s long-term financial sustainability. The president engages city, state, and federal officials to advocate for public investment in City Tech and partners with the City Tech Foundation to strengthen philanthropic support, cultivate donor relationships and build partnerships with businesses, industries and public-sector organizations.
The Institution: New York City College of Technology, a public, undergraduate institution in downtown Brooklyn was founded in 1946 and incorporated into CUNY in 1964. It has evolved over 80 years into a comprehensive institution offering 58 associate and baccalaureate degree programs in a rare blend of specialized technological instruction and broad education in the liberal arts and sciences, including art and design, architecture, biomedical informatics, business, teacher education, computer systems, engineering, entertainment, health care, hospitality, human services and legal studies. City Tech is the largest public college of technology in New York State and a national model for technological education.

As of Fall 2025, the College enrolls 15,252 undergraduate students, roughly 62% full-time and 38% part-time; among degree-seeking students, 45% are in bachelor’s programs and 55% in associate degree programs. The College employs 2,359 faculty and staff, including both full-time and part-time employees.
Qualifications: The President of City Tech must be an exceptional, mission-driven leader who upholds the highest ethical standards and models openness, transparency, and collaborative engagement. Qualified applicants will demonstrate a strong record of progressive administrative leadership and achievement in an accredited college, university system, or comparably complex organization. A deep commitment to public higher education and especially to City Tech’s mission of access, equity, applied learning, and technological and professional excellence is essential. The ideal candidate brings proven success in cultivating relationships, advancing institutional priorities, and strengthening internal operations. Experience in strategic planning, budget development, financial stewardship, and administrative leadership is critical, particularly within large, multifaceted institutions. The President must skillfully manage people and resources, communicate decisions clearly and transparently, and navigate complex issues with resilience, adaptability, and sound judgment.
The President builds trust through authenticity and integrity and fosters a culture that encourages creativity, innovation, and inclusive problem-solving. A demonstrated commitment to expanding college access and supporting the success of students from diverse racial, cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds is vital. Experience and familiarity with engaging elected and appointed officials at the city, state, or federal levels and with collective bargaining environments are desired. Leadership experience within an urban college or a large, complex organization or system and understanding of shared governance, transfer pathways and articulation agreements are valuable assets. An earned doctorate or terminal degree is required for candidacy.

Salary: $300,000 - $370,000 with competitive benefits including but not limited to a housing allowance.
