Instructor/Assistant Professor – Veterinary Science
Announcement is hereby made for a full-time, tenure track appointment beginning the fall 2017 semester on the Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood. Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs.
This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the College.
The successful candidate will teach a variety of Veterinary Science Technology courses, including Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology, which includes multi-species content.
Adhering to pertinent standards and regulations as authorized by the MSCHE, SUNY, AVMA, USDA, and NYS DOH; and developing and maintaining awareness of these requirements;
Promoting the VST program and the profession of veterinary technology, which includes involvement in the college’s open-house activities, as well as other program-promoting events;
Participating in activities related to program and college accreditations, which includes contributing to the AVMA self-study and the College program-review processes;
Partaking in all levels of assessment activities, including the documentation of the successful performance by students of AVMA’s essential tasks;
- Engaging in assessment of college-wide learning outcomes and demonstrating the use of the results of these assessments in courses;
Actively participating in departmental, campus and College committees/meetings;
- Participating in student advisement and working on curriculum development;
- Demonstrating scholarly work in the discipline, as well as engaging in ongoing continuing education and professional development activities.

The Instructor/Assistant Professor of Veterinary Science Technology must be a licensed Veterinarian in the State of New York.
