Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC), consistently ranked among the top 10 percent of community colleges in the nation, seeks a strategic, innovative leader to serve as its Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF). The new VPAF will join the College at a time of significant change and tremendous opportunity, and will work with committed leadership, faculty and staff who are eager to advance the College to new levels of excellence.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College is a unit of the 64-campus State University of New York (SUNY) system. Located in Troy, just outside of Albany, in the scenic Hudson Valley, HVCC serves a significant role in providing access to education and opportunity in a supportive environment to New York Capital region residents, as well as to students from around the state, across the nation, and even other countries who come to HVCC for some of its unique programs. The College offers more than 80 academic and certificate programs through its four schools: Business, Engineering and Industrial Technologies, Health Sciences, and Liberal Arts and Science, and serves nearly 12,000 students per semester, including 6,300 full-time and 5,580 part-time. In addition, through the College in the High School Program, approximately 550 students enroll in more than 90 HVCC credit courses offered at their high schools. Strong continuing education and workforce development programs are also offered by the College. HVCC employs nearly 600 faculty and 430 staff and has an annual operating budget of $111 million.

Reporting to the President and serving as liaison to the Board of Trustees, the Vice President for Administration and Finance will lead and strengthen administrative and financial units, processes and systems in support of the College's mission. In this newly-merged position, the VPAF will oversee the Physical Plant, Human Resources, Public Safety, and Environmental Health and Safety, and will provide direct supervision of a Chief Fiscal Officer, who will be responsible for the Comptroller and Budget offices, Business Services and Procurement, and Financial Aid. The VPAF also serves as lead negotiator and management representative with HVCC's six unions.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly collaborative leader who has held increasingly responsible, broad administrative and financial operations management roles in a community college or other public higher education institution of similar scope and complexity. S/he will also bring proven ability to work and negotiate effectively with collective bargaining units.
