Vice President - Administrative Services

Location: Greeley Campus (College-wide)

Summary of Position: Aims Community College, locally funded, locally governed, is a progressive community college with centralized administrative services located on the Greeley Campus which supports three additional locations. Aims is committed to student success and the Learning College model.

This individual reports directly to the President and provides strategic and operational leadership to the College. The VPAS is responsible for an institutional budget of approximately $85 million that supports a student enrollment of over 7,000 and a workforce of close to 400 benefit-eligible employees.

Aims Community College is looking for a leader who will provide strategic and daily management, supervision and leadership for the areas of Financial Services, Information Technology and Facilities & Operations. This individual should also possess a strong desire for creativity and innovation that supports the overall operations and mission of the college. The College has begun both a business process review and policy/procedure review that is anticipated to span the next three years. As part of the Cabinet, this individual will lead the Division through these activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership/Service Excellence
    • Direct report to the President and participate as a member of College Cabinet. Works collaboratively with other administrators and department heads; serves as an internal consultant.
    • Provide oversight guidance and counsel to the President and College Cabinet in the examination and definition of objectives for existing and/or proposed information systems and the design of improved systems, as well as for other areas of instructional technology and communication resources.
    • Serve on the College Faculty Consultation Committee as Administrator Chair.
    • Serve on institutional or community committees as assigned or elected.
    • Perform committee assignments and other duties as designated by the President.
    • Serve on SBCCOE Benefits Advisory Committee or name designee.
    • Attend required meetings, training sessions, or other functions and travel in state or out-of-state as required.
  • Budget, Strategies & Reporting
    • Actively involved in all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, accounting, and reporting.
    • Direct systems for tracking and analyzing financial performance.
    • Participate in the development of revenue generating strategies, which will ensure the optimal use of existing resources.
    • Coordinate and monitor external resource allocation, as well as accounting and reporting requirements for budget and actual financial information.
    • Establish and develop meaningful management reporting of metrics and operational data that reflect the current and future strategic position of the College.
  • Supervision and Management
    • Create a responsible, supportive team that strives to be engaged, innovative, responsive, and collaborative in the departments of Financial Services, Information Technology and Facilities & Operations. Provide day-to-day leadership, management and oversight support to these departments.
    • Financial Services:
      • Administer and monitor Financial Services including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, investments, capital equipment accounting and depreciation.
      • Oversee activities of the Purchasing Department to include procurement, receiving, property control, mail, copy machine services and reprographics.
    • Information Technology:
      • Administer and monitor Information Technology Department to include technical services, network and telecommunication services, programmer services and network security.
      • Administer college-wide IT initiatives and projects.
    • Facilities & Operations:
      • Administer and monitor capital construction and capital construction financing.
      • Administer and monitor building and grounds maintenance.
  • Other and College-wide
    • Develop, recommend, and implement administrative policies, procedures and processes that support the administration in achieving College goals and to comply with Colorado higher education accounting standards and generally accepted accounting principles.
    • Review and approve all payments, investments, and financial activity of the Foundation
    • Oversee and monitor financial administration of Greeley, Fort Lupton, Loveland, Windsor campuses and other sites as directed by the President.
    • Oversee and administer the management of all contract agreements, risk management and insurance.
    • Prepare and present monthly budget reports and special presentations to the Board of Trustees.
    • Work with Human Resources department with regards to overall compensation package and chair internal college benefits committee.
    • Oversee annual financial audit and present to Board of Trustees for approval

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in business or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Minimum of five years of relevant, progressively responsible professional accounting and budgeting experience with budgets greater than $20 million.
  3. Minimum of five years leadership and supervisory experience.
  4. Proven experience in operational and strategic planning, policy development and financial analysis.
  5. Detail oriented and possesses ability to prioritize and change direction quickly.
  6. Higher education experience.
  7. Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft applications.
  8. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information in written or oral format to administrative staff, professional colleagues, governing boards, and the general public in large or small group settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Three years of experience as a VP, Administrative Services / CBO or equivalent.
  2. Licensed as a CPA.
  3. Community college experience.
  4. Minimum of three years of financial database systems analysis and application.

Salary/Benefits: The hiring range is $115,000 – 126,000; starting salary is commensurate on qualifications and experience.
